Advance and Protect Strategy

Process over attitude or opinion . . .

Employing a well-defined sell discipline is one of the risk management tools we use to seek to limit the exposure of our investors’ capital to a large loss. Do you have a defined sell discipline for your portfolios? We can help you manage the risk in your portfolio.

The recent turmoil in the worldwide markets has reiterated the need for diligent risk management. We believe the last 11 years have made the days of simply buying and holding a diversified portfolio a poor investment strategy. We believe that the domestic stock markets are in a long-term bear market and actively managing the ups and downs may actually present better opportunities than “buy and hope” strategies.

Our “Advance and Protect Strategy” is a capital preservation model with an offensive strategy. Its primary directive is to control risk. The objective of the process is to capture growth when the market is rising and protect principal when the market is falling. This strict buy and sell discipline is the foundation of the Advance and Protect Strategy. We use quantitative and qualitative analysis to work toward this goal. Quantitative data includes such things as price, volume and momentum – which help identify entry and exit points. Qualitative analysis includes understanding the fundamentals of the economy, markets and our proprietary screening process of investment opportunities. Our process monitors each portfolio component on a daily basis and adjusts your investment mix as the business cycle evolves.

Our managed accounts through LPL Financial are discretionary fee based portfolios that allow us to pro-actively manage your risk. Using our managed account process, you’ll gain access to a broadly diversified list of asset classes and investment sectors. Our worldwide economy is dynamic and we continuously monitor the investment landscape to try to identify tomorrow’s winners today.
